Virtual Blood Drive

Ziggy’s WHY: Every year up to 5,000,000 people in the U.S. alone need a blood transfusion because they have been in a bad accident. Approximately 27% of people with hemophilia, when blood does not clot, require a blood transfusion. Sometimes people with cancer need monthly blood transfusions. I have known a few people with cancer who have needed blood transfusions. A family friend named India was born with a rare type of brain tumor. My childhood friend Oliver was diagnosed with blood cancer and survived it. When I was in sixth grade my dad was diagnosed with colon cancer and it was very scary when he was having the surgery. Thankfully, he was able to receive a platelet donation and he is doing well. Seeing how these people benefited from blood donations inspired me to host a blood drive.
