About My Virtual Blood Drive

As a nursing student here at CSU Pueblo, my passion for organizing this virtual blood drive is rooted in the very real, often invisible, crises I encounter in clinical settings. During my studies, I have seen firsthand how blood products are not just "supplies" in a hospital inventory; they are life-saving gifts that bridge the gap between a patient’s most vulnerable moment and their recovery. Being part of the healthcare journey has shown me that behind every unit of blood is a person fighting for more time with their family, and it has made me realize that we all have the power to be that critical support system, even when we aren't wearing scrubs. This motivation is deeply personal because I have learned through my family’s own history—and my commitment to honoring the "backbone" of our community—that health is a collective effort. Whether it is a grandparent needing support during a procedure or a friend navigating a difficult life change, I have seen how deeply community care impacts healing. Knowing that something as simple as a donation can provide a sense of stability and hope to someone in a desperate situation drives me to use my platform as a student and community member to rally others toward this cause. I am creating this virtual blood drive to turn our shared empathy into tangible action. By coming together, we can alleviate the persistent shortages that threaten local hospitals and ensure that when our neighbors need a miracle, it is already waiting for them on the shelf. Together, we can prove that our community is strong, resilient, and dedicated to looking out for one another. one donor at a time.
