From the time Erin was diagnosed with AML in 2021 to her subsequent stem cell transplant, remission, repeat transplant and re-remission (!), we estimate she received about 40 blood transfusions. And for all the marvels of modern medicine, there is no such thing as synthetic blood. So at least 40 people -- people Erin never met or had the opportunity to thank -- contributed to saving her life. Simply by donating blood.
