About My Virtual Blood Drive

Donating blood to me has always been seen as something very possible the everyday person can do to help those in need. With all the differing blood types and people who rely on donated blood, stepping up and volunteering to donate feels impactful. I’ve seen people in my family that have used donated blood to help them push through illnesses or other medical issues. I first started to give blood through my school run blood drives. I know other people have their opinions on donating but it was something I had no issue doing. However the 2nd time I went to donate I was told I have low iron and wouldn’t be allowed to give blood for a year. I happened to be at the donation center when I was informed. Another option was presented, donating platelets. After I had given my platelets a letter in the mail said I was able to donate double since I had a surplus. So while I was unable to donate blood, I was still able to help those who need a different type of donation. I encourage all of those who are able to step up and try something new. A 2 hour stop out of your day can change someone else’s life completely, so sign up today and make a difference.
