Virtual Blood Drive

I have volunteered for Vitalant for several months and I have heard coulees stories of the reasons people donate. Whether it was for a family member, a friend, or a personal experience they all came from different backgrounds but donated with one goal in mind, to help others. I had spoken to this one guy who in his life time had donated blood 794 times, that is 800 pints of blood or 100 gallons. I was shocked and when I asked him why he simply said "because I can". Most everyone is capable of donating and it is a simple process but the impact it makes is huge. To you it may be just an hour out of your day but to the person receiving your blood it's make a difference of their whole lives. And if you are unable to donate there are many other ways you could help! I actually am unable to due to medical reasons which is why I ended up volunteering to help the donation centers! I stopped my volunteering however to actually go to school to become a certified phlebotomist (the people who draw your blood). Or even just sharing the blood drives with people around you trying to recruit them to participate. Or you could host your own blood drive! This blood drive that I am hosting would help me with my schooling because they will provide a scholarship based on the number of people that I have donate. I would appreciate the scholarship but above that I would love to try and get as many people as I can to donate just to help save others. So with all that said, please consider donating or finding other ways you could help! Your small donation will make a lasting impact and you will be saving lives!
