Virtual Blood Drive

October is Diversity Awareness Month, and in recognition of Vitalant’s anniversary, the BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) Employee Resource Group is bringing focus to the importance of building a diverse donor base. This campaign is about more than celebrating diversity. It is about understanding how diversity in our donor population can directly impact the health and well-being of our communities for a lifetime. Some BIPOC patients, particularly those who require ongoing transfusions, may need blood that closely matches specific blood types and phenotypes. When donors with diverse blood characteristics give, they help expand the availability of appropriately matched blood for patients who need it. We invite BIPOC employees and allies to learn, engage, and give with purpose. Building a stronger, more diverse blood supply starts with our willingness to show up for the communities we serve and the people who may one day depend on us. Supporting our communities isn’t business. It’s personal.
